Every lines and every symbols are the significant language of architecture.
PROJECT 1b
THE TONAL VALUES

The depth and tone play a vital role in producing a clear and legible architectural sketch. By using different method to sketch a selected object, I learnt how to control well the density of lines or dots to create the tonal values.

Besides, I improved my render techinque in lighting effect and materiality through the 4 sketches I did. Also, I understand the only way to produce a good sketch is to observe the object in detail and chose the right method to produce the sketch.

PROJECT 2a
ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTIONS

Throughout this orthographic drawing exercise, I learnt how to produce a proper and complete architectural documentation. Besides, I also realised that a drawing without lineweight and line quality is completely wrong and it cannot be read and understand by other. Another experience I gained was the inking technique. And also, I have learnt how to work as as studio team to do the research of the building as well as time management.

PROJECT 1a
ON-SITE SKETCHING

Sketching is the basic technique to record and express what you experienced in a surrounding. From the project, I precisely understand that how important sketching is to an architect and what is the proper way to produce a sketch.

Meanwhile, I also learnt how to use skeching to show the important element in architecture. For example, the building material, scale and proportion as well as the spatial quality.

DESIGN COMMUNICATION

PROJECT 2b
AXONOMETRIC PROJECTIONS

In this project, I learnt the way to generate an axonometric drawing from the floor plan as well as the benefits of using axonometric drawing to express my ideas and the spatial quality I want to created in the design process. Moreover, this project enhance my 3D drawing technique and concept as well as the rendering ability. As a conclusion, I think the best way to make a nice axonometeic drawing is to better understand the building itself, as you will need the detail information to help you explode the structure.

PROJECT 2c
PERSPECTIVES

In project 2c, I have tried to illustrate the interior and the exterior structure of Barcelona Pavilion by using perspective. In the drawing process, I realised that perspcetive drawing includes all the techniqucal drawing skills as well as showing the spatial quality and the designed atmosphere within the building. On the other hand, I also tried to explore the new media for rendering and it made my drawing became more lively and interesting. Last but not least, I learnt to make the presentation board presentable by changing and transforming the position or size of the drawings.
