SUSTAINABLE PHILOSOPHY // ASIAN BUILDING DESIGN

Sustainability is one of the focused cores in build environment industry. Nevertheless, Asia has the most unique culture and different environment compare to another countries. Thus, sustainable philosophy of Asian designer is special with others as the local adaptation is completely full of Asian essences.

Through the case study paper writing, we could develope our understandings on how does the Asian architecture work with modern technology with the references of the past. Targeted Belum Rainforest Resort as the precedent, we could see the reflection of green design thinkings were implemented in every single detail of the building. From these, we could see and witness the uniqueness of Asian design, it stands alone with its own beauty. To complete the case study paper, different methodologies were explored to proof and verify the topics discussed in the paper. At the same time, the capability of researching, thinking, producing, ducumenting, writing and presenting were developed throughout the paper writing process.

ICONOGRAPHY OF ASIAN UNIQUENESS

Every city in Asia has its own unique characteristics, which would be represented in the form of architecture iconography or symbol, a semiotic interpretation based on visual elements. By exploring selected street in Asia region, we were required to look at the street from a different perspective, and find out its significant and incredible things that could be recognized and identified. Thus, the understanding in historical and social aspects could be developed throughout the documentation process and learning experience.
